Peerla (album degli Elio e le Storie Tese del 1998)

PEERLA è un album-compilation degli Elio e le Storie Tese del 1998, in un primo momento facente parte del cofanetto PERLE AI PORCI e successivamente distribuito in maniera autonoma. Nel disco trovano posto brani inediti e versioni alternative di canzoni già edite, ed in generale materiale che non ha trovato posto nella discografia ufficiale.

Innanzitutto ci sono tutte le sigle ed altre canzoni realizzate per la celebre trasmissione MAI DIRE GOL, ovvero Nessuno allo stadio, La cinica lotteria dei rigori, Balla coi barlafüs (adattamento di Time Warp, tema di THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW), Il concetto di banana, Sunset Boulevard e Ti amo campionato.  

Ci sono poi alcune cover demenziali come La donna nuda, adattamento italiano di I want a new drug di Huey Lewis and the News. Ameri è una rivisitazione di Gli Amori di Toto Cutugno, mentre In Te è la cover dell’omonima canzone di Nek, nell’occasione reinterpretata in una delirante esibizione live da Mangoni. Help me è un’altra rivisitazione, questa volta di un brano dei Dik Dik del 1974, che racconta la storia di un povero astronauta disperso che chiede disperatamente aiuto.

Ci sono poi delle versioni live di brani già noti, come ad esempio Giocatore Mondiale e Agnello Medley dal secondo album, più Urna dal terzo album, qui per l’occasione presentata nel suo arrangiamento originale funky, nettamente diverso da quello power metal presente nel disco.

Infine, Sabbiature è registrata in presa diretta dalla celebre quanto controversa esibizione della band al Concerto del 1° maggio del 1991. Dopo aver suonato l’intro di Cassonetto Differenziato per il Frutto del Peccato, il gruppo spiazzò tutti i presenti con un brano improvvisato sul momento sul tema di Ti Amo, nel quale Elio si produsse in una feroce invettiva sui mali della corruzione del paese, prendendo in particolare di mira Giuseppe Ciarrapico, all’epoca personaggio noto per le sue vicende giudiziarie. Il brano venne pesantemente tagliato dalla RAI che tolse l’audio dal palco, e ciò creò non pochi problemi al gruppo negli anni a venire.

In una successiva ristampa verrà inserita anche una nuova traccia intitolata Tenia, cover della famosa Maniac di Michael Sembello.
