Storia di un Minuto (album della PFM del 1972)

STORIA DI UN MINUTO è il debutto discografico della Premiata Forneria Marconi, passata alla storia come PFM, e narra la giornata di un uomo attraverso sette brani scritti da Franco Mussida e Mauro Pagani, ad eccezione di Impressioni di settembre, al cui testo collaborò il grande Mogol, che assieme a Lucio Battisti firmò l’album con la prestigiosa etichetta Numero Uno e la produzione di Claudio Fabi.

L’intro, di poco più di un minuto, sfocia in Impressioni di settembre, la canzone più nota del gruppo ma soprattutto un classico della musica che conta. Segue la gioiosa È festa che intona una tarantella ma riesce a mettervi dentro anche dell’ottimo rock duro. Poi è la volta di una suite in due parti, Dove…. quando, galoppata sontuosa nel miglior stile rock-progressivo, che passa il testimone a La carrozza di hans, altro brano imprescindibile del prog e non del decennio.

Il cerchio si chiude con i quasi sei minuti di Grazie davvero, pezzo che parte dolcemente accompagnato da una chitarra acustica per poi sfociare nella sontuosa strumentalità di Mussida & co. Nel testo si usa la pioggia come metafora di ciò che accade al protagonista del disco. Un classico che non esito a definire capolavoro. Considerando le grandi prove da compositori e musicisti dei membri della PFM, benché all’esordio (cosa che rappresenta un valore aggiunto) e in considerazione del fatto che otto volte su dieci i primi dischi spesso fungono da assestamento, STORIA DI UN MINUTO invece è un debutto portentoso, un paradigma di come va inciso un disco sfiorando la perfezione in un felice incontro tra versi e composizioni.

La rivista specializzata Rolling Stone lo stima al quarantaquattresimo posto dei migliori dischi italiani e mi permetto di aggiungere che merita ben altra graduatoria.
